Brian Bertsch

Brian is a seasoned finance professional with nearly 25 years of experience. He brings a dynamic blend of Fixed Income Trading, Business Management and Brokerage Operations / Compliance. He has worked at a range of companies including Ragen MacKenzie, Morgan Stanley , EK Riley and most recently Rainier Pacific Investments.
He started his Fixed income career at Ragen MacKenzie as an assistant in Institutional Trading and Sales, where he traded Agencies, Corporates, Municipals, CMO's and Mortgage Pass Throughs to a variety of small institutional accounts.
Brian Co-Founded EK Riley Investments in 2002 with the goal of building a top-notch regional broker-dealer and to help advisors manage their own individual businesses with as much support as they would find in a traditional wirehouse firm. As President of EK Riley, Brian oversaw all day-to-day aspects of E.K. Riley Investments, as well as managing the Fixed Income Trading desk and its Risk Management and Supervision.
After the sale of EK Riley in 2020, Brian transitioned to financial services with LPL Financial and now with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as a Managing Partner of Rainier Pacific Investments.
Brian received his Political Science degree in 1997 from The University of Washington. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, traveling and Seattle Sports.

In terms of specializing in the stock, bond, UIT, and mutual fund markets, Tom Schumaker is an experienced professional. As a Managing Partner, with over 35 years of experience, he is committed to helping his clients work towards their financial goals by utilizing a disciplined investment strategy. His wealth of knowledge contributes to building solid client relationships based on integrity and service.
Tom effectively assists his clients in working towards three financial goals: 1) wealth accumulation during their working years, 2) financial freedom and independence in their retirement and 3) reducing income taxes, and estate taxes when their accumulated wealth is passed on to their beneficiaries.
Tom was born and raised on a farm in Eastern Washington. The experience of that commitment and hard work carried over to starting & building his own investment business from the ground up. He began his career in Seattle in 1983 and is currently located in Issaquah, WA. Tom’s pledge to his clients is that he will do for them as he would do for himself in the same situation.

Gavin’s passion for business and finance prompted him to start his career at PACCAR, Inc in 2016. As a business analyst, he put together market economic reports and industry data for senior executives.
In 2019 Gavin pivoted his career and took the necessary licensing exams to become a LPL Investment Advisor Representative. He joined Tom Schumaker at EK Riley Investments in September of 2019 where he developed his skills in portfolio analysis, brokerage operations and client management.
